The Institute for Research on Territorial Management, Risk, and Climate Change (TERICC), affiliated with the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at the Autonomous University of Chiriquí, is holding an outreach workshop entitled “Tourism and Climate Change” as part of the CLIMAR – Erasmus Plus Project, funded by the European Union.
This workshop was held with the aim of generating key knowledge and skills in the areas of Climate Change Management and the Tourism Industry, a topic of relevance to the academic community of this prestigious institution of higher learning and the community at large. On this occasion, it was aimed at graduating students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and the Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources at the Faculty of Humanities.
During the event, Dr. Javier De León, coordinator of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, presented the CLIMAR Project. The presentation of CLIMAR’s actions at UNACHI was given by Dr. Catalina Espinosa. For her part, Dr. Nallilys Baúles presented the components of the project, and Ana Gómez, MA, discussed the topic “Approach to Environmental Management and Climate Change.”
The event concluded with a workshop entitled “Advances in academic activities aimed at climate change mitigation and adaptation in tourism.” This workshop was developed by all those present, who completed a form on the topic. Finally, an evaluation of the workshop was carried out.
As part of the celebration of this event, a presentation was made at her office to the Rector, Mgtr. Etelvina Medianero De Bonagas from the First CLIMAR 2025 Agenda.
