The Autonomous University of Chiriquí participated in the Second CLIMAR Conference, “Advances and Challenges in Tourism Management in the Face of Climate Change,” held at the Colombian Association of Universities (ASCUN) in Bogotá, Colombia.
The delegation from CLIMAR-UNACHI was led by Dr. Catalina Espinosa and Mr. Eduardo Coreas, who analyzed key findings on the multisectoral context for transforming tourism management in times of climate change.
“This meeting allows us to analyze each of the proposals and learn about the experiences of the countries involved in climate risk issues and the changes that need to be implemented in tourism, which will strengthen the sector and enable it to face the challenges it currently faces,” said Dr. Catalina Espinosa.
During the meeting, workshops and presentations were held to address the role of tourism in Latin America, particularly in the countries that make up the consortium, including Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Panama. In addition, alternatives were analyzed so that companies and individuals linked to the sector can implement actions that transform tourism into a generator of well-being rather than a factor of environmental and social risk.
The CLIMAR project is funded by the European Union through Erasmus, with the participation of experts and academics from 13 higher education institutions in Latin America and Europe.
As part of this event, souvenirs related to the CLIMAR Project were handed out.
