Conference on Climate Change Marks the 75th Anniversary of Agronomic Engineering and Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics

As part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Agronomic Engineering and Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics programs, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Caldas, together with the Alumni Association (ASEVEZ) and the CLIMAR Project, had the honor of welcoming Jeimar Tapasco, Principal Scientist for Climate Action at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT and a distinguished alumnus of the Faculty.

On Thursday, September 25, Tapasco delivered a conference entitled “A Journey Through Climate Change Research in Colombia’s Agricultural Sector” at the Mélida Restrepo de Fraume Auditorium of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

The event gathered a broad audience, including professors, alumni, and students, with around 30 participants joining virtually. Attendees emphasized the importance of integrating climate change considerations into agricultural and livestock production, highlighting the relevance of research and innovation to build resilience in these sectors.

This activity forms part of the actions promoted by the CLIMAR Project, which seeks to strengthen the capacities of higher education institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean to address climate change through education, research, and interregional cooperation.
