On February 24 and 25, 2025, Bogotá hosted the workshop titled “Synergies in Action: Multisectoral Dialogue to Transform Tourism Management in Times of Climate Change”, as part of the Erasmus+ CLIMAR project. This event was organized by the Colombian Association of Universities (ASCUN) and OBREAL, with the main objective of raising awareness about the project and its stakeholders, as well as fostering dialogue between the public and private sectors on this crucial topic.
The first part of the workshop brought together representatives from government entities, businesses, NGOs, and the academic sector, all focused on tourism and environmental management. The goal was to validate the postgraduate module on tourism and climate change with various social stakeholders. Additionally, the work of six research groups was presented, providing insight into the perspectives and interests of both private and public actors and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
The second part of the event, directed at CLIMAR consortium partners, included an assessment of interactions with public and private managers. Furthermore, planning for upcoming activities was carried out. As the host institution, EAN University presented its projects and sustainability initiatives, followed by a guided tour of its campus.
The event saw the participation of representatives from civil society organizations, government institutions, and academia. Notable attendees included EAN University’s rector, Brigitte Baptiste, as well as ASCUN’s executive director, Óscar Domínguez; general secretary, Elizabeth Bernal Gamboa; deputy director of international relations, Luisa Fernanda Villamizar Rodríguez; and deputy academic director, Sandra Figueroa. The event was coordinated by ASCUN and Juan Guillermo Hoyos from OBREAL. Also in attendance were the project coordinators from ULPGC, professors Javier de León Ledesma and Domingo Verano-Tacoronte.
This workshop represents a significant step towards transforming tourism management in the context of climate change, promoting collaboration among all stakeholders.
